11-Days Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek: Alternative Trekking Trails in Nepal

The 11-day luxury Everest Base Camp Trek provides trekkers with the best available comfort in the Himalayas. Despite the luxurious amenities and top-notch services, this trek might not be suitable for some travelers. In such a case, trekkers can take on the conventional Everest Base Camp trekking trail, and enjoy the beauty of the region. Both treks have a similar experience, but the conventional trek provides you with standard accommodation facilities, in a teahouse/lodge.

If you are aiming big, you can take on the challenges of mountain climbing. Go on the Mera Peak climbing expedition and test your skills. However, this expedition is strenuous and advisable only to seasoned trekkers.

Away from the Khumbu region, you will find alternative trekking routes in the Annapurna region. You will find a range of trekking options, from the shorter Poon Hill trek, or Mardi Himal trek lasting up to 5 days to a longer trek to Annapurna Base Camp, and the Annapurna Circuit.

Alternatively, if you are looking to mix in the adventures or make changes to your 11-day luxury Everest Base Camp Trekking itinerary, you can request a custom trek package. Get in touch with Orbit Alpine Adventures, and together we will create a tailor-made itinerary that best suits your requirements.

Best Time for Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek in 2025 and 2026

While most adventures to the Everest Base Camp are suitable during the spring and autumn seasons, there are still trekking opportunities in the monsoon/summer, and winter months, especially for the more experienced trekkers. Below is a breakdown of the best time for Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek in Nepal for 2025 and 2026.

Everest Base Camp Trekking in Spring (March to May)

Spring is the high trekking season in the Everest region. Trekkers from around the globe are attracted by the vibrant hues of rhododendron and wildflowers, and the clear blue sky with an amazing view of the surroundings. The temperature hovers around 10 degrees Celsius during the day, making it an ideal condition for hiking, and exploring the local settlements. Nights can be chilly, so be prepared to battle the chills of the Himalayas.

Everest Base Camp Trekking in Autumn (September to November)

Like the spring months, autumn is another ideal time for hiking in the Everest Region. This is the peak season for Everest Base Camp luxury trek as trekkers can take in the pristine environment after the monsoon showers. The temperatures are ideal for trekking during the daytime, averaging 15 degrees Celsius. Nights are cold, but yet the temperatures manage to stay just above freezing point in the lower regions. However, expect a drastic drop in temperatures in the higher altitudes.

Rainfall is minimal during this time of the year. Trekkers can enjoy the surroundings as the autumn foliage gradually takes over the lush vegetation. Since this is the peak trekking and climbing season, you will meet fellow trekkers and also encounter expedition groups looking to conquer the top of the world.

Everest Base Camp Trekking in Monsoon (June to August)

Everest Base Camp trekking in Monsoon comes with a lot of risks and uncertainties. The Everest region gets about 800 mm of rainfall per month, making the region prone to landslides, and slippery roads, and causing flight delays and cancellations.

While monsoon trekking comes with several risk factors and is not advisable to most trekkers, seasoned trekkers looking to take on the challenges can plan for the trip with caution. The journey that is filled with uncertainties during monsoon also comes with rewarding views of the vibrant floras up to Pangboche. However, as a result of global warming, you can find suitable conditions for trekking, and mountain sightseeing. Also, in recent years, trekkers have found a shift in weather patterns resulting in the delay in the start and end of monsoon. Unlike typical months, you may find monsoons beginning at the beginning of July and lasting until mid-September.

Everest Base Camp Trekking in Winter (December to February)

The winter shows its wrath in the Himalayan region, especially in the higher-altitude regions. During this time of the year, the daytime temperatures are chilly, and the temperatures drop below freezing point during the nighttime. Also, since the living conditions are pretty unbearable in winter months, most people migrate to a warmer zone. Therefore, most tea houses/lodges also remain closed during this season.

The conditions in the Everest region aren’t ideal for sightseeing either. As there is a prolonged overcast throughout the day, the views of mountains and surrounding landscapes are engulfed by dense clouds. Nonetheless, as global warming has affected the climatic conditions of the Himalayas, you can still expect the unexpected and enjoy your trek even in the winter months.

As global warming has its effects on the Himalayas, there has been a climatic shift resulting in a change in weather patterns. So, it would be wise to consult with an expert from Orbit Alpine Adventure before planning your trip to Everest Base Camp in winter.

Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek - 11 Days Itinerary
Day-to-DayExpand all

Upon arriving in Kathmandu, you will be met with our representative at the airport who will proceed to transfer you to your hotel. You will be accommodated in a 5-star hotel in Kathmandu equipped with luxurious amenities. If you have time, you can take a tour of Kathmandu before you gather back at the hotel for a brief meeting with your trekking guide.

Prepare to leave your hotel for Tribhuvan International Airport early in the morning. Due to extreme weather conditions in the Himalayas, there is a brief flying window between 6 am to 11 am.

Once you have boarded your flight, you will cruise the skies in a twin-otter engine airplane relishing the views of the Himalayan terrain, mountain peaks, and the amazing landscape. The flight to Lukla may be a bit bumpy, yet it is safe and the most popular means of entry to the Khumbu Region.

From Lukla, we begin our trek. Our first destination is Phakding, accessible after a hike of 3 to 4 hours. If you want to avoid the hike to Phakding, you can also opt for a helicopter transfer from Lukla. You can request this service at an additional cost. For more information, contact Orbit Alpine Adventures.

We set off for Namche Bazaar from Phakding after breakfast. Our journey will take us through yak pastures as we approach the Sagarmatha National Park. After a 5 to 6-hour hike from Phakding, we finally reached Namche Bazaar.

Namche Bazaar is a commercial hub of the Khumbu region. This is also a junction for yeti enthusiasts looking to gain more information on the mythical creature. In addition to all this, you will be pleasantly surprised by the diverse culinary options, luxurious hotels, and commercial hubs that blend with nature and ancient Sherpa traditions.

Rest and acclimatization are crucial while traveling in the Himalayas. Due to low oxygen levels in the higher altitude regions, travelers are prone to altitude sickness. Therefore, we take a day to rest at Namche Bazaar. There is still an abundance of activities to choose from. We begin with a short hike to Everest View Hotel for breakfast. The hotel serves as a viewpoint for the stunning Himalayan vistas. Embrace the sights of the mighty Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, Ama Dablam, and other peaks as you take in the warm sips of your beverage. Or, if you are a yeti fanatic like myself, we can take a detour to the Khumjung village after breakfast. There, take in information about the yeti from local elders. While in Khumjung, don’t forget to visit the museum and see the perpetrated Yeti scalp on display.

From Namche Bazaar, we set off toward Tengboche. Tengboche is a revered Buddhist site which is famous for the Tengboche Monastery. Along the route, you will find Buddhist shrines, relics, and long stretches of Mani Walls adorned with Buddhist prayers. From within the shadows of the colorful prayer flags, you will also get the views of East Ama Dablam, and other notable peaks. Also, hike along the serenity of the yak pastures, and the quiet tundra jungle.

Despite the short duration, the trek to Dingboche is quite challenging. On your journey, you will cross the Imja River, and then head on to the desolate potato fields. Dingboche is also the highest Sherpa village in the Khumbu region with hotels with modern amenities. Beyond this point, most hotels have basic lodging facilities.

Today is another day set for rest and acclimatization. If you still have the zest to hike, you have a few options. You can go on the 4-5 hour round-trip journey to the base of Nangkar Pshang Peak. You will find sacred Buddhist sites which also serve as a viewpoint of Mount Makalu. Alternatively, you can climb Nagarjuna Hill to take in the beautiful sights of Ama Dablam, Everest, and Lhotse.

If you are not keen on hiking, other exploration options include a trip to Chukkum from Imja Valley. Chukkum is a diversion to the Island Peak High Pass Trek which journeys via Amphu Lapcha.

After a fairly comfortable hike to Thukla village from Dingboche via Lapcha, you will encounter a steep climb to Thukla top. Then continue your journey to Lobuche Village which gives you panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Ama Dambal, Kusum Kangaroo, Chola Pass, and Pumari.

Lobuche is another sacred village on the way to Everest Base Camp. The village is a burial site and memorial for the deceased mountaineers who lost their lives in the mountains.

Gorakshep is the final point where you will find accommodations in tea houses/lodges during the Everest Base Camp trek. The hike to Gorkshep from Lobuche takes you on a journey through rough terrains. After a 3-hour hike, we’ll reach Gorakshep. Stop for lunch in the teahouse/lodge, before we make yet another climb.

After lunch, we make our way to the highlight of the trek, the Everest Base Camp. You can enjoy the views of the mountains, and the dynamic landscape during your hike, but remember, the view of the Everest Peak remains hidden from the Everest Base Camp. After taking in the experience of standing on the base of the world’s tallest peak, we make a quick descent to Gorakshep, where we’ll be spending the night.

You can request a trip customization where you will spend an extra day in the Everest Base Camp. Here, you will mostly meet Everest summiters, climbers, climbing guides, and porters. Take some time to listen to the stories of the summit, and experience a night in the camp tents like the Everest summiters.

On the final day of the Everest Base Camp luxury trek, we’ll hike to Kala Patthar. Kala Patthar is the highest point you can trek without a climbing permit. The journey to the summit of the ridge can be quite demanding, but the rewards you’ll find are worthwhile.

You will need to prepare for your hike in the dark as our goal is to see the sunrise over Everest. Navigate your way through the rough terrains with the help of your guide. Upon reaching the summit, get your cameras ready to capture the magical moment of the golden hues of the sun, take over the Everest peak, and gradually spill over the entire Himalayan range. As you stand eye-to-eye with Mount Everest, you will also find other peaks like Lhotse, Pumari, and Tibetan mountains in your field of view.

After collecting the memories and experiencing the highlights of the trek, prepare to hike back to Gorkshep. In Gorakshep, a helicopter awaits to take you back to Kathmandu. In Kathmandu, you have the rest of the day for yourself. Take the time to enjoy the vibrant city life of Kathmandu, and witness the stunning ancient architecture in the city squares. In the evening, take a stroll around Thamel to buy souvenirs to take back home. You can also head to one of the popular bars for a drink or two. We end the night with a team dinner hosted by Orbit Alpine Adventures then head back to your hotel.

After breakfast, prepare to leave for the airport. Our representative will pick you up from your hotel 3 hours before your boarding time.
