Currency: Nepali Rupees are accepted all over the country. While most shops and businesses in urban cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara accept digital payments, it’s best to carry cash for monetary transactions in rural villages.
Flight: The Tribhuvan International Airport is the major airport in Nepal, connecting to different destinations in the country and the world. There are two other international airports in Pokhara and Bhairawaha, but they have less frequent international flights.
Nepal’s complex geography, weather, and air traffic may cause delays or even cancellations. Therefore, we recommend adding extra buffer days to your itinerary.
Nepal Weather: Nepal has four major seasons.
Spring (March–May)
Monsoon (June–August)
Autumn (September–November)
Winter (December–February)
The best seasons to visit Nepal are spring and autumn.
Travel Insurance: While travel insurance is not mandatory, we recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance. If you are trekking to a higher altitude, ensure your policy covers elevation up to 5,000+ meters (depending on your trek) and includes helicopter evacuation.
Food: Local staples like dal-bhat and momo are available across the country. In trekking regions, the menu may be limited, but depending on the chef’s expertise, you may find Western cuisines in some teahouses..
Accommodation: Major cities have high-quality lodging facilities. In lower-altitude rural trekking regions, accommodations are moderate. As you reach a higher altitude, you will have access to basic amenities in your teahouse/lodge.
