Revered by Hindus and Buddhists alike, the temple of Muktinath is situated in a grove high up in the mountains. A Buddhist monastery and a Bishnu temple are found in the woods. It is also a site where natural gas perpetually emerges from the grounds. A small fire is lit to mark the natural gas jets.
Leaving this beautiful place, you descend on your bike with spectacular views of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,160 m), Mt. Nilgiri and several other peaks. En route, you will encounter Thakali people in their native villages. The Thakali are of Tibetan origin but their settlement in this region for generations have created their own language and customs.
Further, as we ride through trekking trails we pass through many scenic villages rich in culture. The rocky trails from Jomsom ascend and descend through windswept desert landscape, gradually bringing us to lower grounds and into the paved road. We cycle along this road passing along rivers and through valleys until we reach the beautiful city of Pokhara on the foothills of the Annapurna range.
